How to Use (for Different Age Groups)

To use this printable, print it on regular paper and have your child count all the matching items, then write the totals on the provided lines.

If needed, you can also adapt this activity to suit different age groups:

  • Younger kids: If they need help keeping track of which items they’ve counted, you can have them cross out each one as they count it. To make things even easier and avoid losing count, they can use different colors to cross out different types of items, or keep track on a whiteboard or separate sheet of paper.
  • Older kids: Make this activity more challenging by encouraging them to rely solely on their memory instead of crossing things out. For added fun, you can also set a timer and have them race the clock!

Once your children are done counting, have them double-check their answers using the answer sheet to make sure they have counted all the items correctly.

Printing Instructions

After you have downloaded the PDF to your computer, print it on Letter-sized (8.5 x 11 inches) paper and give it to your little one so they can practice counting all of the items.

If you wish to print this activity on A4 paper, you can do so as well, but you may need to adjust the “Scale to Fit” setting on your printer to ensure that none of the printable area is being cut off.

How to Make This Printable Reusable

Want to use this activity over and over, but hate the thought of using more paper and ink? Before you write anything on the printed game sheet, use a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheet to laminate it, or place it inside a plastic page protector or dry erase pocket.

This will allow your child to cross out the images and write the numbers on the lines using washable or dry erase markers, then wipe the sheet clean for future use.
