Does your child love painting? These printable Q-tip painting templates are perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners who need to practice their fine motor skills—and they are also totally free to download!
JUMP TO…
Q-tip painting is perfect for kids who love to paint with dot markers. It is one of my kids’ favorite activities, and not only is it lot of fun, but it also a great opportunity for young children to practice important skills.
Whether you are planning out your next homeschool lesson, you want to get your child ready for preschool, or you are a teacher looking for free printables to use in your classroom, you’ll definitely want to save this activity.
And if you’re looking for more fine motor activities to print out for your kids, you can also grab these Cutting Practice Sheets or these Letter Tracing Sheets!
Why You’ll Love This Printable
- Fun for kids: Using Q-tips rather than paintbrushes encourages creativity and self-expression, and gives children the opportunity to explore different painting techniques.
- Helps with important skills: Q-tip sheets aren’t just for fun! They also help kids develop a variety of essential skills, including fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and pincer grasp.
- 100% free: Download the PDF files straight from the post—no email sign-up required!
- No advance prep: This activity is perfect for days when you’re short on time and don’t have time for complicated prep. Simply print it out at home and hand it to your child along with some Q-tips and paint!

If you’re looking for additional templates, head over to my shop and grab my Q-Tip Sheet Mega Bundle, which contains 136 pages of Q-tip coloring sheets for one low price. You can use the coupon QTIPS to get 15% off the full bundle or any of the individual sets in my shop.
Printing Instructions
Once you have downloaded the PDF files, simply print the pages on US Letter-sized (8.5 x 11 inches) paper and they’ll be ready to use. You can also print them on A4 paper, but you’ll need to adjust the “Scale to Fit” setting to ensure that none of the printable area is being cut off.
How to Make These Worksheets Reusable
To make these tracing sheets reusable, laminate the pages using a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheets. If you don’t have a laminator, you can also place the pages inside plastic page protectors or dry erase pockets.
Doing this will allow you to wipe the paint off the printable pages when your child is done with them, and save them for future use. Just make sure you use washable paint (not acrylic paint) for an easy cleanup!
