How long does chocolate moon sand last?

Provided you keep it clean, you should be able to reuse this sand many times. It should last a minimum of 2 weeks, but you may even be able to use it for several months depending on how often your child plays with it. To make the moon sand last as long as possible, make sure that your child has clean hands when they play with it, and avoid letting the sand come into contact with wet or humid substances (particularly perishable food items).

What type of oil works best for chocolate moon sand?

Moon sand can typically be made using almost any type of oil, but because chocolate moon sand contains cocoa powder and is meant to smell like chocolate, you'll want to avoid anything that has a strong smell, such as baby oil or unrefined coconut oil. If you don't, the scent of the oil risks partially masking the scent of the cocoa powder. I make mine with vegetable oil because it is cost-effective, safe to eat and doesn't have a strong scent. Canola oil and refined coconut oil could work as well if you have some at home.
