There are a lot of fun activities for kids to do outdoors in the winter that they can’t do during the rest of the year. But on days when you don’t have time to get everyone into their snow suits, it’s also nice to have some activities on hand that can be done inside the house—especially if those activities include a learning component.

And if you’re looking for an activity that you can simply print out and give to your kids, you’ll love these free winter tracing worksheets.

Who Is This Activity For?

These free printable winter tracing pages are perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten students. They can be used in occupational therapy, and they would also make a great addition to your child’s busy binder.

How to Use These Worksheets (for Younger and Older Kids)

Each of these free printable worksheets features both a winter image and a winter word that your child can practice reading and writing.

If your kids are very young, they can simply practice following the lines with their index finger.

If they are a little older, give your kids some markers or pencils so that they can work on their pencil control by tracing over the dotted lines. When they are done tracing the images, they can also colour them in for added fun.

How to Print These Worksheets

After you download each PDF file to your computer, print the pages on US Letter-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches). Once you have downloaded this activity, you will be able to print it out as many times as you need.

Although the pages were created in US Letter format, you should also be able to print out the pages on A4 paper. But you’ll want to double-check your printer settings and make sure that nothing is being cut off.

The exact name of the setting you’ll need varies from printer to printer, but it should be something like  “Scale to Fit” and will ensure that all the printable area fits within the page.

How to Make These Worksheets Reusable

To make these tracing sheets reusable, you’ll need to laminate the pages using a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheets, or place them inside plastic page protectors or dry erase pockets.

If you do this, your child can trace the lines using dry erase markers, and you’ll be able to wipe the pages clean and save them for next time.
