Printing Instructions
Once you have downloaded all of the PDF files to your computer, simply print the pages on US Letter-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and hand them over to your child.
If you wish to print them on A4 paper, you can do so by adjusting the “Scale to Fit” setting on your printer to ensure that none of the printable area gets cut off.
How to Use This Printable
- Colored pattern sheets: Print out the worksheets and use markers, colored pencils or crayons to complete the patterns on each line by coloring in the white heart in the right column. If you are using conversation heart candies, you can place an appropriately colored candy in the center of the white heart instead of coloring it in.
- Blank pattern sheets: Have fun creating your own patterns by coloring in the hearts! If you choose to, you can also arrange conversation heart candies into patterns by placing them in the center of the white hearts instead of coloring them in.
Creating Patterns with Conversation Heart Candies
Want to make this activity more hands-on? Instead of coloring in the blank hearts, place heart candies on top of the printed worksheets, or recreate the patterns with candies!
Not only is this fun, but it also adds a fine motor component to this activity.

How to Make These Worksheets Reusable
Want to reuse this activity multiple times without wasting paper and ink? Use a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheet to laminate it, or place it inside a plastic page protector or dry erase pocket.
This will allow your child to color in the shapes using washable or dry erase markers, then wipe the sheets clean and store them for future use.
