How to Use (for Different Age Groups)

To use this printable, print it out and encourage your child to count all the matching items and write the total number on the provided line.

If needed, I Spy games can be adapted to suit different age groups:

  • Younger kids: Have younger children cross out each item to help them keep track of how many they’ve counted. If that is still too challenging, they can even use different colors to cross out different types of items, or draw a line on a separate sheet of paper for each item they’ve counted.
  • Older kids: To make this activity more challenging and help keep their attention for longer stretches of time, encourage older children to rely solely on their memory instead of crossing out the items they’ve counted.

Once your little ones are done counting, have them double-check their answers using the provided answer sheet to make sure they’ve come up with the correct number of items.

Printing Instructions

Once you have downloaded the PDF to your computer, print it on Letter-sized (8.5 x 11 inches) paper and give it to your little one so they can practice counting all the Halloween objects.

To print this activity on A4 paper rather than US Letter, you’ll need to adjust the “Scale to Fit” setting on your printer to make sure that none of the printable area is being cut off.

How to Make This Printable Reusable

Looking to save money on paper and printer ink? Try laminating this printable using a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheet. If you don’t have a laminator, you can place the printed game inside a plastic page protector or dry erase pocket.

Doing this will allow your child to cross out the images and write the numbers on the lines using washable or dry erase markers, then wipe the sheet clean for future use!

Absolutely! Classroom use is both allowed and encouraged. Feel free to include this game sheet in your lesson plans, or print it out for a fun activity to do during your next classroom party.

Not only are I Spy worksheets fun, but they’re also a great way to help kids practice skills like counting, working memory and visual discrimination.

These skills are critical for young kids, because recognizing visual details in pictures will help kids discriminate between the different letters of the alphabet when reading words made up of individual letters.
