How to Use (for Different Age Groups)

To use this printable, print it out and encourage your child to count all the matching items. When they have counted every instance of a particular item, have them write the total on the provided line.

This activity can be adapted to suit different age groups:

  • Younger kids: To help them keep track of which items they’ve counted, have young children cross out each item as they count it. They can even use different colors to cross out different types of items, or keep track on a whiteboard or separate sheet of paper so they don’t lose count.
  • Older kids: To make this activity more challenging, encourage older children to rely solely on their memory instead of crossing out the items they’ve counted. You can also set a timer and have them race the clock!

Once your children are done counting, have them double-check their answers using the provided answer sheet to make sure they have counted the correct number of items.

Printing Instructions

Once you have downloaded the PDF to your computer, print it on Letter-sized (8.5 x 11 inches) paper and give it to your little one so they can practice counting all the Christmas objects.

You can also print this activity on A4 paper, but you may need to adjust the “Scale to Fit” setting on your printer to ensure that none of the printable area gets cut off during printing.

How to Make This Printable Reusable

Want to reuse this activity instead of printing it out several times? Before you write anything on the printed game sheet, laminate it with a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheet or place it inside a separate plastic page protector or dry erase pocket.

This will allow your child to cross out the images and write the numbers on the lines using washable or dry erase markers, then wipe the sheet clean for future use. Feel free to store it with your other Christmas games and turn it into a family tradition!
