Printing Instructions

Once you have downloaded the file you want, print it on US Letter-sized (8.5 x 11 inches) paper and keep it handy so you can color in one of the images every time you finish a reading book.

If you wish to print the document on A4 paper, you can do so by adjusting the “Scale to Fit” setting on your printer to ensure that none of the printable area is being cut off.

How to Make This Printable Reusable

Want to continue tracking your reading progress without wasting paper or ink?

Make your reading logs reusable by laminating the pages using a thermal laminator or self-laminating sheets, or by placing them inside plastic page protectors or dry erase pockets.

This will allow you to color in the images using dry erase markers and wipe them clean when you’ve completed the whole sheet. Just make sure to keep the tracker out of reach to prevent the ink from being accidentally erased before it’s time!

Frequently Asked Questions

To keep track of the number of books you’ve read, color in one of the book pictures on the printed tracker every time you finish reading a new book. When all the books have been colored in, you have completed your goal!

While not every child will choose reading as their favorite pastime, there are lots of ways to help them build good habits and foster a love of books:

  • Start reading at a young age
  • Model good behavior: if your child sees you read, they’ll want to as well
  • Make reading part of your routine
  • Keep lots of books around
  • Give books as gifts for birthdays and holidays
  • Create a reading nook: having a cozy space in your home that is designated for reading is a great way to encourage it
  • Get a library card: create excitement by making an outing out of picking new books to read
  • Let your child choose what to read
  • Try different types of books: all reading is good, including comic books, cookbooks and magazines!
  • Read what they read: turn it into a family activity by reading the same books as your child and discussing what you read together
  • Take turns reading out loud
  • Travel with reading materials: instead of offering electronics when your kids are bored during long outings, try offering books
  • Read with friends: encourage your child to start a book club with their friends so they can all discuss what they’re reading as a group
