Printing Instructions
Once you have downloaded the cards you wish to use to your phone or computer, simply print each card on a separate sheet of US Letter-sized paper or cardstock (8.5 x 11 inches) and let your child color in the designs. (Cardstock is sturdier and prevents marker ink from bleeding through, but paper can work as well.)
Note: These coloring cards were designed to be printed on US Letter paper and fit perfectly inside a standard A7 envelope after cutting, but if you’re fine with using a different envelope size and you don’t care whether the cards are exactly 5×7 inches, you can print the files on A4 paper by adjusting the “Scale to Fit” setting on your printer to ensure that none of the printable area is being cut off.
How to Use These Coloring Cards
These cute homemade cards couldn’t be simpler to make! Simply follow the steps below to create your own Grandparents’ Day keepsake:
- Download the file you need, open it on your phone or computer, and print it on a sheet of paper or cardstock. (See detailed printing instructions above.)
- Have your child color in the design using their favorite crayons, markers or colored pencils.
- Use scissors to cut along the outer edges of the card, then fold along the center line so that the colored picture is visible on the front of the card—when printed at full scale, the folded card should measure 5×7 inches, which is the perfect size to fit inside an A7 envelope. (Alternatively, if you don’t wish to fold the card, you can cut out the smaller rectangle around the picture and write a message on the back.)
- Open the folded card and write a message for the recipient on the inside, then fold it back up and place it inside an envelope.
