Ingredients
⅓cupbaby rice cereal
⅓cupcornstarch
3tbspapplesauce
2tspvegetable oil
liquid or gel food colouringas needed
Instructions
Pour rice cereal and cornstarch into a medium bowl and stir until combined.
In a small bowl, add some food colouring to the applesauce and stir until the colour is evenly distributed throughout.
Add the applesauce and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Stir with a spoon to combine.
When stirring with a spoon is no longer effective, set aside the spoon and continue kneading with your hands until the play dough feels smooth and elastic, adding more cornstarch or applesauce as needed to improve the texture of the dough.
Repeat the previous steps with as many colours are you would like to make, then give it to your child to play with. Play dough can be stored in a zip-top bag in the fridge for up to 3 days when not in use.
Notes
This recipe yields a small ball of play dough that is perfect for one baby or toddler. If you would like to make a larger quantity of play dough, repeat the process to create multiple different colours or multiply the recipe quantities to make one big ball in a single colour.
